The Back Page 2-25-2018

In Our Prayers

Carol Schuman and the Wallin family in the loss of their mother and grandmother, Mildred Myers. Her funeral was yesterday at Westside. Thanks to all who helped provide the food and served. The family was very appreciative.

Jacquie Grams will have gall bladder surgery in Greeley on Tuesday.

Fern Smith has shingles.

Continue to remember Harold Brunswick in the nursing home in Benkelman.

Thursday, March 1. No Women’s Bible Study this week or next. The class will resume March 15 with Lesson 3, No. 8 in the James study guide.

Sunday, March 11. Ryan Brown and his wife Sarah and their two children, Grace and Isaiah (ages 3 and 1), will be here to discuss working with the Westside church.

Sunday morning and Wednesday night Bible studies. On Sunday mornings at 9:30 we’re studying the gospel of Mark. On Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. is a series called Messages for the New Year. The title of this coming Wednesday’s lesson is How to Develop Patience.

The Grams’ children and grandchildren are recovering from the flu; Jacquie’s mom, Fern Smith, has shingles; Mildred Meyers is in failing health; Jana Vinson has been diagnosed with mononucleosis; Margene Hayes is dealing with complications following foot surgery. She’s scheduled for multiple oxygen treatments in North Platte to help with healing.

The family of Sid Harchelroad; Cody, Amanda, Avery, Andy, and Shane Jantz; The Grams’ grandchildren, Kaden and Greyson Oliver, have the flu, and Jacquie’s mom, Fern Smith, has been diagnosed with shingles….Mildred Meyers is in failing health. Carol’s brother and sister have been here to visit.

DeMarys’s aunt, Sue Jackson, passed away on Monday at the nursing home in Wauneta. She was 96 years old. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Wyoming.

Thursday, February 1. Women’s Bible Study, 10:45 to noon, Sunset Apartments. Due to the snow, last week’s class was cancelled, so they’ll study Lesson 1 in the James study guide.

February 24, 8 am to 3:30 pm – The Imperial Bible Church has invited our ladies to attend their Ladies Retreat. Invitations are on the back table.

April 13-14 Women Walking with God Conference, Wichita, Kansas. Linda Thomas sent us a notice of the conference. Deadline for early registration is January 31, with a fee of $63. Bob Grams saw a doctor in Kearney this week regarding treatment for nerve pain…Fern Smith’s colonoscopy didn’t indicate any cancer….DeMarys’s aunt, Sue Jackson, fell and broke her hip. She’s home from the hospital.

Betty Kramer, member of the Holyoke church and Maury’s mom, passed away suddenly last Monday. Her funeral was yesterday in Holyoke.

Jacquie Grams was hospitalized early this week because of dehydration caused by stomach flu. She is at home now, but Bob suggests no visitors.

Also continue to pray for Fern Smith and Lois Silvester as well as Mildred Meyers, Sue Jackson, and Harold Brunswick in nursing homes.

December 25. Eagles Club Christmas Dinner. The Ministerial Association is requesting the following food from Westside: 2 salads (each enough for 20 people), 4 pies, and 2 dressings. Phone J.R. Kline at 883-4029 for more info. Needed at Eagles Club by 10 am Christmas.

Fern Smith will undergo a PET scan this week to help diagnose a spot on her lungs….Doctors have discovered via blood tests that Lois Silvester has some cancer, but they haven’t determined where.

Saturday, October 28 – Door of Opportunity: Westside will host a Brown Bag Clothing Giveaway, 8 am to 1 pm. Please gather and bring ready-to-wear clothes before Thursday, October 26.

Sunday, October 29 – Areawide Singing hosted by the Stratton church at the former Girl Scout Camp, 3:30 pm Central Time.
