Prison Ministry: Continue to pray for Bill and Dan as they work with the offenders and the staff at Sterling Correctional.

On the Calendar

Thursday: Women’s Bible Study at the Sunset Apartments community room at 10:45 a.m. will study 1 Corinthians 11.

Wednesday Night Study

On Wednesday evening, we will continue in our study of Hosea, chapters 4-14, “Unfaithful Israel, Faithful LORD.” Some general lessons from Hosea:

  1. God suffers when people desert Him.
  2. Inward corruption in a nation is more dangerous to its existence than external enemies.
  3. Genuine repentance will bring forgiveness and full restoration of God’s favor.

Prison Ministry: Dan reports that he now has studies set up with members of the prison staff. Pray that God’s word will find good soil.

Many thanks to those who helped put together the Valentine Party Friday evening — to Norma for her planning, to Jacquie for all the meat she provided, and to Londa for planning the games.

Thanks to those who have given so generously to the Chase County food pantry. Carol reports that due to a recent school food drive, the pantry is well stocked with non-perishable goods.

In Our Prayers

Gen Lewis returned home from the hospital on Monday. She is recovering much better than after previous surgeries. She will still need further chemo and radiation treatment, which can be done in Sterling.

Congratulations

…to Will Lewis and the rest of the Chase County High School Bowling team. In district meets in Norfolk yesterday, they were one of two district teams to quality for state finals, which will be held in Lincoln February 8 and 9.

After Gen Lewis’s surgery on Tuesday,  surgeons determined she will also need to undergo further chemo and radiation treatment in Sterling. She expects to return home tomorrow, January 20.

Sunday Morning Bible Class

Starting next Sunday, the adult class will study a five-lesson series entitled Foundations for Faith: Five Foundational Lessons to Grow and Strengthen Our Faith. Lesson titles are 1. God: His Character and Attributes; 2. The Person of Jesus Christ; 3. The Work of Christ; 4. The Person and Ministry of the Holy Spirit; 5. The Church: The Fellowship of the Saints. Be sure to get a copy of the book from Bill so you can study the lesson before class next Sunday.

Randy Bartlett’s seed therapy will be December 31.

Makenna Wallin’s checkup in Denver this past Wednesday indicated once again that her therapy was successful.

Continue to remember Bob Bartlett, Elnor Brown, and Donna Maucher with visits and cards.

Randy Bartlett’s final radiation treatment was on Friday. He’s hoping to start the seed therapy before the end of the year.

Gen Lewis underwent a virtual colonoscopy on Monday at the Rose Medical Center in Denver. Her next visit with the specialist will be January 2. Bill and Gen have moved to Sterling, where Bill is now serving as the chaplain at Sterling Correctional Facility.

Our Sympathy

To Carol Schuman in the death of her stepfather, Arvene Myers, in McCook on November 23. Carol’s mother Mildred plans to move to Imperial Heights at the end of December.

A New Birth

Jason Borland was baptized Thursday night in Holyoke by Dan Kafka, witnessed by friends and family from Holyoke, Sterling, and Ogallala.

We are thankful that Jeff Wallin has been able to get out to worship with us.

Randy Bartlett will go to Scottsbluff for his third week of radiation therapy.

Gen Lewis will see a surgeon in Denver tomorrow afternoon to find out what course of treatment will be necessary.

Calendar of Events

Sunday, December 1—Dan Kafka will preach in Bill’s absence.

Saturday, December 7–Trip to Mountain States Children’s Home. Please let Jeff (970-854-5305) or Londa (308-883-1779) know by December 1 if you would like to tour the facility and have lunch there.

Women’s Bible Study will not meet again until after the holidays, with a study of 1 Corinthians 8 on Thursday, January 2, 10:45 a.m. at Sunset Apartments meeting room.
