Caleb is an example of unflinching faithfulness. When the entire nation wanted to quit and return to Egypt, he and Joshua stood resolute against the crowd, convinced that God would deliver them and give them the land He promised (Numbers 13.30).
As a result of his faithfulness, Caleb not only entered Canaan but led his people in possessing their territory. The 85-year-old survivor of the wilderness wanderings looked upon the Hebron heights, armed and defended by the Anakim, and boldly declared, “Now, therefore, give me this mountain!” They then proceeded to drive out the “giants” that had so intimidated his peers forty years earlier at Kadesh Barnea.
In the end, Caleb’s unfailing faith won out over both the size of his enemies and the fears of his friends.
